Electrical Troubleshooting

If you're having an electrical issue that's tough to figure out, we can help!

Here is a detailed list of some fairly common electrical problems that we are often called upon to diagnose and solve, so we can suggest the best method of repair for homeowners or business owners:

Frequent Electrical Surges: Frequent surges can be due to various issues like poor electrical wiring in the house, lightning strikes, faulty appliances, or even issues with the power company’s equipment.

Overloading or Frequent Circuit Breaker Trips: This often occurs when too many high-wattage appliances are connected to a circuit that can't handle the load. We can diagnose this issue by checking the distribution of electrical load across circuits and suggest solutions like spreading the load across multiple circuits or upgrading your electrical panel.

Light Bulbs Burning Out Often: This could be due to a number of issues such as poor circuit connections, high voltage, or the wrong type of bulb. We can test the circuits and the voltage to find the underlying issue and provide the appropriate solution.

Electric Shocks: If electric shocks occur when you turn a device on or off, the issue might be with the appliance or the wiring. An electrician can diagnose this by testing the wiring and the device in question and then either fix the faulty wiring or suggest that the appliance be replaced.

Electrical Outlets Not Working: Outlets can stop working due to a tripped circuit breaker, a blown fuse, or worn-out outlets. An electrician can troubleshoot the issue by checking the circuit breaker or fuse box and testing the outlet itself. If needed, they can replace the outlet or repair the circuit.

Flickering Lights: Flickering lights could be due to a problem with a single fixture, issues with the circuit, or utility drops. We can diagnose the issue by checking the fixture and the circuit to identify the source of the problem. The solution might involve repairing the circuit, changing the light fixture, or contacting the utility company.

Inadequate Wiring: Older homes might have wiring that doesn't meet current codes and isn't safe or capable of handling modern electrical loads. We can inspect your home's wiring to identify potential problems and suggest the best course of action, which might involve rewiring your home.

Dead Outlets (GFCI Outlets): Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) outlets protect against electric shock by tripping the circuit when they sense a leak in the electrical flow. Sometimes these can trip when there's no danger. We can check if the GFCI outlet is working correctly or if it's too sensitive. If it's faulty, they will recommend replacing the outlet.
